Stitches Veterinary Surgery

Stitches is a privately owned specialty hospital devoted to surgery, and it describes itself as the first veterinary surgical specialty hospital in Long Beach. The practice works in partnership with each pet’s primary veterinarian and cares for animals from Long Beach and nearby communities, including Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Carson, Compton, Seal Beach and San Pedro.

The hospital has separate areas for cats and dogs, an ICU ward, an isolation ward and a full in-house laboratory. Its mission statement sets a goal of most patients recovering at home on the same day as their procedure.

The practice says its decisions are driven by what is best for each pet rather than by corporate profits. With veterinary medicine going through what it calls a corporate transition, Stitches has recommitted to its independence and to the community it serves.
