Meet the owner

Mary E. Boname, OD

Owner and optometrist

Dr. Mary E. Boname is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S., neurobiology and behavior), Bucknell University (M.S., biology) and the New England College of Optometry. After three and a half years as an associate in another optometric practice, she opened her own to create a more personal setting for her patients.

She has been a peer educator for Alcon, Abbott Medical Optics, Bausch & Lomb, Inspire Pharmaceuticals and Macuhealth, and has spoken at the annual Vision Expo conference.

HOW IT BEGAN

The practice’s story

Montgomery Eye Care opened on December 26, 1997. Dr. Boname traces the idea back to her grandparents, who cared for patients side by side in their home office in Oxford, New York, and she set out to pair that kind of personal service with current optometric technology.

The practice describes itself today as a dry eye center of excellence and a preventive care and wellness practice, with an optician on staff for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
